Given
the popularity of small cars with the "tuner" markets, the Pontiac
Sunfire American Tuner show car demonstrates other opportunities to potentially
address this growing trend among today's younger buyers. The American Tuner
debuts at the 2002 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las
Vegas to show possible aftermarket applications.
The Pontiac Sunfire American Tuner sets a new design
direction for the popular compact performance car market. This new, sleek aftermarket
look harkens back to Pontiac's rich performance heritage.
Designed for the 740,000-plus Sunfire coupes and
convertibles built between the 1995 and 2002 model years, the American Tuner
package enables drivers to add image, performance and personal expression to
their production Pontiac Sunfires. The Pontiac Sunfire American Tuner Package
gives today's younger drivers a means of getting a customized compact vehicle
that fits their budget.
Many parts on the vehicle are now available separately
through the GM dealer network as GM Performance Parts and GM Officially Licensed
Parts. And others are under consideration as Pontiac gauges customers' reactions.
The Pontiac Sunfire American Tuner package will bring "street machine"
image and performance within the reach of many young auto enthusiasts who want
to enhance their driving experiences.
